Understanding your emotional landscape
I work from the belief that our behaviour, feelings and thoughts are shaped by our life experiences, both past and present.
By talking about what’s happening in your life and how it affects you, together we can begin to make sense of it, widen the choices available to you, and support meaningful change.
Sometimes this means focusing on a specific issue over a short period of time. At other times, it can involve looking more deeply at long-standing patterns, relationships, or challenges.
We might explore how past experiences are shaping your current life, how stress shows up in your body, or how the cultural and social pressures or oppression you have experienced have influenced you.
Mind and Body
We experience the world through our thoughts, emotions and through our bodies. The body and mind are one emotional system. Many of us have been taught to ignore, or suppress how we feel, perhaps due to our upbringing, societal expectations or traumatic experiences.
Paying close attention to how our feelings are expressed in the body can help us feel more grounded and trusting in ourselves. This way of working is valuable for anyone but is especially helpful for those who feel estranged from their body or find it difficult to regulate their feelings.
